Hi!
I’m Lila.
I’m a theatre practitioner and artist from Brooklyn, New York based in New York and Chicago. I just graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Theatre and Gender & Sexuality Studies. Through directing, teaching, performing, and arts administration, I have irrigated a well of passion for connecting people that has not yet found a bottom—I hope it never does!
Personal Philosophy
Theatre and education have been intertwined in my life since birth, with a teacher for a mother and a ballerina turned Broadway dancer for a grandmother. I wholeheartedly believe the foundation of an electric learning environment—turning curiosity into community by collectively nourishing one another’s sense of agency—extraordinarily serves any artistic praxis. This compass has steered me towards theatre that runs toward the absurd, music-theatre, and storytelling that centers queerness, heightened language, and kinesthetic empathy. My art requires laughter and nerds.
