Written, Directed, and Produced by TBD Performance Group

You Got Gunked… WHOA was one installment of quarterly performances by the TBD ensemble at Northwestern University. Inspired by the Neofuturist form, TBD performances showcase a collection of short plays written by the current ensemble, performed in a random order as dictated by each performance’s audience. The plays themselves span anywhere from five seconds to five minutes, with the only artistic parameter being the rejection of suspension of disbelief in both writing and delivery: at all times during a TBD performance, the ensemble members are presented as themselves, in their present moment, with their present surroundings. TBD performances are often wacky, introspective, confusing, and incredibly human. For this particular performance as a part of the TBD ensemble, I contributed a handful of plays that held up a microscope to our ensemble’s fashion choices and tested the anonymous kindness of our audience by giving them the opportunity to steal a precious object of mine without repercussion—amidst other ventures.
