The Song of Achilles explores the relationship between the Greek Hero Achilles and his companion Patroclus, as told by the contrasting perspectives of Patroclus and Achilles’ immortal mother, Thetis, following the death of both Patroclus and Achilles. This story asks the question of whether the memory of transformational love can withstand the shifting truths of overwhelming grief. This new musical was written and workshopped with a creative team made up entirely of undergraduate students, with sponsorship from the Wirtz Center for Performing Arts.
